Hey all,
I'm looking for amateur reporters and commentators for reallifesuperheroes.org. Anyone who wants to conduct interviews, report on RLSH news and events or even draft well written commentary or even advice and tips for the RLSH community.
Thanks.

For legal reasons, I think its best if people who claim to be reporters at least have a basic press pass. Its not hard to get, can be gotten online and sent to you in the mail, and gives you legal protections that simple bloggers or the average guy claiming to be a reporter does not have.

Yes, This is sort of an accreditation. But its a legal one and that is important. I highly encourage anybody who wants to claim the title of "Reporter" also do the due diligence required to get some sort of press pass.

I have done it. Its not hard. For more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Press_pass

Well I don't know if this is relevant, but if we ever do anything in CT I know several reporters and an editor for a couple different newspapers around here.

I'm a professional author. I still don't make a full-time income from my writing, but few authors do. [I'm working on it!]

In addition to my fiction, poetry, and self-help book, I've done a little bit of reporting for the local Independent Media Center. I've also written maybe half a dozen press releases for local community groups, and a press release is basically designed to read like a news story.

I'd be interested in writing something, but at this point, it would probably be sporadic. I'm in financial crisis mode, so I need to focus as much time and energy on paying gigs as possible, whether it's the writing, the computer work, or something else entirely.

If you have any specific topic in mind, feel free to send it my way. Otherwise, I will keep it in mind as one of the many tasks on my to-do list for non-profits. Smile

Commentary if you want. Or anything that you are doing.

If you are still looking for reporters, I might be able to help. I have some journalism training, and I wrote for the WSUV newspaper: The VanCougar. I don't have a Press Pass, but I do have a Professional Writing Certificate.

BTW Idea Man - I didn't give up on our book idea, I just got almost no response to it. No one submitted anything to me.

Maybe it would be better if we started simpler. I read a book called "Change the World for Ten Bucks," published by a nonprofit organization called "We Are What We Do." It was basically 50 tips for everyday things that anyone can do to make the world a better place in small ways. Each double-page spread had photos or artwork and between one sentence and a few paragraphs of text. I have seen other books like this published as well. We could easily do a Real Life Superhero version of the same type of stuff. We could get 20 Real Life Superheroes to each submit two or three tips with artwork or photos. We could call it "50 Ways to Save the Day" or something to that effect.

Hmm interesting concept. I like it. But again like what happened last time, the hard part is getting people to actually do it.

You should post a topic stating that you're looking for contributers.

Okay. I re-posted the idea as a new topic:

Zeta, you know you can always let me know if you have something in mind and I'll be happy to sharpen my crayons and see what I can scribble out.
