| Hello, my name is Mr. Jack, and I am a D&D player.
It first started about five or so years ago. It was with a couple of friends, older guys. They taught me how to do it. Since then, I have just gotten really deep into it. Creating campaigns, making Player Characters, thinking up plot lines in my spare time. I currently am running two different campaigns with my friends, and so it has worsened to monster creation, plot exposition, and even graphic arts for the campaign and places they visit. I have not gotten into miniatures yet, I do not really like them. I think it takes some of the fun away from the imagination of it, but I will be the first one to admit that you have to have some sort of visual aid.
As for my habit, I have all of the 4th edition core rulebooks, along with a vast majority of the supplementals. I have yet to get into of the created campaign worlds, though with Dark Sun coming out and Encounters being implemented nationwide, I may just reconsider that along with the whole miniature thing.
I have not played as a PC for quite some time, because I have spent so much time engineering campaigns as a Dungeon Master. But I am willing to, and looking for a campaign to do so in these days.
Anyways, I thought I would just come here and get it off my chest. Thank you for your understanding. If anyone wants me to run a campaign for them, or have me as a player in a campaign, or generally just wants to talk about D&D, this is the thread to do it in. Or by PM.
There, I have finally come clean.
I am Mr. Jack, and I am a nerd, geek, gamer, dork, 7th Level Cleric to Pelor, and the most kick ass vigilante freelance Game Master extraordinaire you will ever have the pleasure to run with.
And I am ready to play. _________________ "Some moistened bink tossing out swords is no basis for a system of Government." - Superhero "Reason alone does not justify an action." - ! "Whispers are great weapons." - Razorhawk "This has become a rather silly thread." - Zetaman

| I miss my gnome wizard with the metal arm. He survived losing the Hand of Vecna. |

| Seriously? To be honest I love gnomes. I kind of miss the tinkering aspect they had back in 3.5.
On a side note, I wonder if they are ever going to come out with an Oriental Adventures for 4.0. I know they incorporated some of the stuff like Oni into the Monster Manual and other places, but I really liked that supplement. _________________ "Some moistened bink tossing out swords is no basis for a system of Government." - Superhero "Reason alone does not justify an action." - ! | I actually didnt care for it, but only because I like things that are really wild and weird. Oriental Adventures was too familiar.
I didnt like gnomes until i made that character. I cant remember why I did it. Maybe i liked to screw around and be crazy but still be in character.
I actually havent tried 4.0. I thought it was too restrictive and the potential for infinite customization was what i really liked about D, but maybe its gotten better now that theyve released a few more supplements. |

| You would think it was too familiar. Haha. (^^) I guess my affair with it is just that I am the stereotype of a white man wanting more culture than he actually has. Haha.
4.0 is good for character creation. I cannot explain the level of detail that they have going into. They already have 3 PHB's out for it, which is the other half of it.
3.5 was a world building game, and I feel like they downsized that aspect with 4.0. I had to buy a supplemental to even get a brief description of what the new planes were and how they functioned, and then I had to buy another two books just to get the full descriptions (which I am still not happy with). Things that should have been in the first PHB, DMG, and MM were released in the other two later, and even then you still have to buy supplementals to get the details on more stuff.
I feel like 4.0 is a bit of a marketing ploy, but I still like character customization, and world building is getting better, so I will not complain too much. _________________ "Some moistened bink tossing out swords is no basis for a system of Government." - Superhero "Reason alone does not justify an action." - ! | MM - Thats ok, theres still time to turn you......
*Hisses as the pale light of the Blood Moon falls upon his sultry countenance*
...I dunno what sultry means. Sounds like it fits though, huh?
Jack - Maybe I would like it then, I always liked making my characters as interesting and unique as I could... |

| I somehow have always played as a cleric of Pelor. I have rarely played, and the only other character I did play was a fighter who died in Ravenloft.
*shiver*
We do not go to Ravenloft. _________________ "Some moistened bink tossing out swords is no basis for a system of Government." - Superhero "Reason alone does not justify an action." - ! "Whispers are great weapons." - Razorhawk "This has become a rather silly thread." - Zetaman

| There was actually a Superhero paper RPG that existed at one point. I think I shall see if I can find it in the torrents of torrents I go through every night. | yeah, i played the paper version and i didnt like it because you gained powers too slowly. At level 20 you still only had like 3 powers. The MMORPG had the same problem |

| Well Ex, when you think about it...the flash could only do one thing...run really fast
so three powers ain't bad... |

| It is not about how many powers you have, but how powerful the ones you do are. Quality over quantity, my precious punctual pal.
...but sometimes more could be better. I will find out. | yeeah, but they made you take like one major and two minors, and you always end up with powers dont match. Like i once had a guy with really good hearing and the ability to climb walls like spider man. What the heck is that? So there wasnt even that much quality.
And sure, The Flash only had one power, but he could use it in many ways. Its impossible to make a game that could allow a player to be as versatile as any comic character, even with only one power. Like i said about D&D, I like versatility and creativity.
And i know its not necessarily how many powers I have, but I always went all out with my characters. I like to see them change and progress and grow. |
