In order of quality:

1- The Dark Knight.
1- Franklyn (ex equo).
2- Unbreakable.
3- Watchmen.
4- V For Vendetta.
5- Kick Ass.
6- Defendor.
7- Mystery Men.

I know TDK is more a "classic superhero movie", but it is a great RLSH inspirational tool too.
'Mystery Men' was kinda RLSH. Right? I love it.
I watched 'V For Vendetta' few days ago for the first time in my life, and found it beautiful. Truly.
It seems like 'Kick Ass' and 'Defendor' are really good, so who knows if they will climb the chart.

That's a pretty good list of movies, Entomo! I am yet to see Watchmen, though. I am glad to see there is another V for Vendetta fan out there Smile

Im not really sure V for Vendetta would be classified as RLSH, because V was enhanced with all those drugs they were testing, thus giving him faster reflexes.

I mean...I GUESS it could happen to one of us here....

Oh, wait... that wasn't me. That was the plot to Unbreakable.

I'm still confused if 'DARKMAN' - one of the greatest movies of all time - should make the chart too.

Theres a flick I just watched on Netflix streaming called the Duo. Its a mockumentary about these two guys who call themselves the Terriffic Two, also known as Buddy Boy and Best Man.

They even use the term Real Life SuperHero in the beginning of the film and it is pretty silly and lame. It was made in 2001 and has some funny performances in it. Overall I wasn't impressed.

Anyways here is how the site describes the film.

"The suburban landscape of Austin, Texas, is in danger ... but not from criminals, evildoers or villains. Instead, the societal threat is from The Duo, a hapless pair of superheroes sent here to save humanity. Best Man (Bill Wise) and Buddy Boy (Ryan Wickerham) are the comical pair dedicated to fighting the good fight in suburbia in this amusing indie that features a committed cast and crew of locals from the Austin area."

I think Mystery Men is fairly close to real life superheroes in a lot of ways

Alan Moore hated V for Vendetta, but he doesn't really want any of his works being made into films.

Mystery Men is good But I never understood why they left the Flamming Carrot out of it.

I don't Count TDK. I count Adam West.

Not having seen Kick Ass or Defendor, I can't really judge them, But the trailers for both look good.

Other canidates for me would be : Special, Orgazmo, Hero at Large.

Damn you, Entomo. You left out 'Elektra' on purpose because it intimidates your puny #1.

The Flamming Carrot was for a proposed sequal. UT!

That makes sense. Sort of like how they saved the Joker for the Batman sequel. Plus the Flaming Carrot was such a bizarre character that they probably thought that the audience needed to be eased into a movie that featured him.

Entomo,
Don't forget movies like:

- Sherlock Holmes
It's too awesome to not list.

- Batman Begins
Obvious.

- Blankman
Slight exaggeration of truth (as do Mystery Men, but more-so Watchmen) but for the most part it's realistic.

- The Punisher
- The Punisher: War Zone
Yeah if you want to count Kick-Ass then you can't just not list The Punisher.

- Daredevil?
Debateable. It's not like he had any unrealistic powers, just a slightly exaggerated version of how enhanced one's remaining four senses could be after the loss of the 5th one.

Apocalypse Meow,
The stuff in Elektra couldn't be real. It was kind of a spin-off from Daredevil, but it was ruined through all of their magical little powers they wanted to include in on it.

Zetaman,
I remember the Flaming Carrot. Wasn't he actually the main character in the comic books for the Mystery Men? It would be cool if they had a sequel with him in it.

Superhero,
Was Hero At Large the one with John Ritter? I've been wanting to see that for a while now. I don't know about Orgazmo but I remember seeing the previews about Special and that one was about the drugged up guy who thought he had powers, that looked good and I still want to see that one too.

That's right, Tothian. And the Mystery Men did not even appear in the Flaming Carrot comics from the beginning. They were added later on.

And the Mystery Men had conventions where they got drunk and partied... kind of like SA... you know... this is possiblity the most realistic RLSH comic ever. I am sure in my lifetime I've read like 10,000 comics.

by far and away, closest movie to what a real life crime fighter is capable of, both in skill, as well as early pratfalls

For anyone who is not familiar with "Orgazmo," it stars Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of "South Park." Also creators of "Team America World Police" and stars of "Baseketball."

This is interesting, must do some research on them.

Guys:

BATMAN BEGINS was less realistic than TDK, it involved ninjas. TDK was pure RLSH philosophy.

MYSTERY MEN was one hell of a movie, I just loved it. It's very RLSH, but it steers towards the parody side of our movement.

Apocalypse, ELEKTRA is millions, millions & millions of times better than that horrid, puny, tiny, terrible version of DAREDEVIL they did. Thank God, they are rebooting it. How awesome does it sound?

Idea Man,
Ah.

Zetaman,
Wow.

Superhero,
Alright.

Entomo,
In response to what you said about:

-Batman Begins
Ninjas aren't unrealistic. It wasn't based on fictional powers, but merely illusions.

-Mystery Men
Thus the term "Pool Party Superhero" was born. Although the movie did show 3 aspects of being a stereotypical "super-hero", only one in the middle representing the "true" superhero, as opposed to the fakes:

A- The lame silly dorks.
B- The ones who take what they do seriously.
C- The ones who are in it all for themselves and their own fame, glory, and popularity.

-Elektra VS. Daredevil
I disagree. Daredevil was more realistic and easier to relate to, than all of the fictional crap seen in Elektra. I did think Stick was awesome though. I was hoping they were going to make a combined sequel of "Daredevil & Elektra" but they never did.

I've read all of Kick-Ass up to this point, which is probably everything that's going to be in the movie. Judging from the comic, it's a much better RLSH story than TDK. TDK might be superior overall, but not as a RLSH story.

Also, like RazorHawk said, Mirageman is a for-sure addition to the list.

I guess I have to see Mirage Man, I hear it mentioned all the time.

Did anybody see that "Franklyn" film about the guy who kind of Jumped between reality & Fantasy where he was a superhero? (That's what I gathered from the trailer anyway) Kind of like "The Maxx"? was it any good?
