If you guys look on this website, cheaperthandirt.com you can find this vest called the "flaktarn" flak vest or something like that, it has kevlar inserts rated up to IIa protection, and you can throw some thick metal sheeting or something for blade protection. Just an idea. Or you can just pull out the inserts and use them for something else. Oh and did I mention it is only 50 dollars????

I don't think I'd trust a website called "cheaperthandirt."

I'm just saying.

I have bought many items from them, it is just a surplus store online.

Some people are afraid to eat cheap sushi. I think that I would be afraid to wear cheap kevlar.

Oh yes, I don't think that I was very clear. I meant to say that you could use it to supplement your preexisting armor, or if you don't normally wear any, it might be better than nothing. But yeah, I would never rely on it.

IIa isn't great, but it isn't bad either. Better than nothing, that's for sure. If anyone has access to a firing range, I think this is worth checking out.

I would rather see guys running around in IIa than in a polo shirt.

Just sayin'.

Here is the link to the specific page, they also have a vest for 400 dollars with hard plates in it as well.

That was my point, it is better than nothing and it doesn't weigh much, so it might be worth it to those out there that currently don't use anything.

@Sparrow: the problem is the minute you shoot a vest it's a total write off. So firing at one on the range is a expensive pospect.

SH, that is something I'm contemplating. The plastic armors I'm developing should be repairable, and I'll be ballistic testing the repairs as well.

That is, of course, if my testers move just a TAD faster...

I research other heroes to find out what works, what doesn't, and to know what to expect when we meet up. I wouldn't want to plan a patrol into Hell's Kitchen with Direction Man, or try to go undercover with Death's Head Moth.

Knowing your allies gives you a good idea about who to call upon should you need resources, or specialized help.
