A good alternative to a utility belt -- if it fits your schtick -- is probably a 5.11 tactical vest or one of those "I do not work for the CIA" vests. Or an economical alternative would be a simple fishing vest.
I used one a bit in Afghanistan and Iraq and it was super convenient. Like I could carry books, a laptop, tons of food, a gun... all sorts of stuff. Basically it was my man-purse for a while. You'll be discovering new hidden pockets on one of these until the day you die.
The only thing just now I could find in superhero-ish colors was called a "trail vest" and had way less pockets.
They look soft, but they are very rigid. Hope this helps.

I've been to the two local Walmarts here and I can't find the ones I bought last year and I asked about them and they said they stopped carrying them. I could suggest checking out the camera pouches and see if there is anything there in the size you need. That's what I did.
