Hello RLSH.

My name is Josh, from Stoke in England, and have joined this site today Smile After finding out about your work on the internet, I could not wait to join such amazing, brave and caring people such as yourselves, and if I can make even half as much difference as you guys, I will of made a small, posotive difference to this world.

It has always seemed true that all people wish to do good, put 99% of people need a reason to actually start, and I am afraid to say I am guilty of that. Thankfully, joining the RLSH will give me the motivation needed to go and make a difference in ways, others simply won't.

A quick question to all, while I have no problem with donning my costume and walking the streets, I am nervous, and slightly worried, I think it would be foolish of me not to be, can anyone offer any insight, advice, or just memories, of what thier first night on patroll was like?

While I am simply your English friend from across the pond, with little back up or local support, the humanity, heart, and bravery I have seen every single one of you guys show, is simply inspiring, Keep up the good work, I hope i can start to make a difference over here Smile

A hero is a man who does what he can, as opposed to a normal man, who doesn't.

Ronin.

PS: Would love to meet up with any and all RLSH members based anywhere in England to talk, discuss ideas for events, taking what we do further, or genral chat concerning all RLSH stuff, still very new to this game myself, hoping to learn all I can, my MSN is on my profile Smile

Ronin,

That's the thing. Don't wear a costume. Wear a uniform. They don't look silly and they are more effective.

Plus, it's not like you NEED to stand out and draw attention to yourself when you patrol. You can patrol in regular clothes, too. As long as you maintain a vigilant mindset, a watchful observant eye, and an open ear and pay attention to what is going on around you, and do what is necessary for any given situation you may find yourself in. (Of course, there are different levels of patrolling, that's just one of them).

Anyway, welcome to the forum.

Thank you for the replies =)

I myself am a martial arts instructor, my father is in the police force, and as such have built up a large understanding of the law and it's procedures, while also having a large collection of martial arts armor.

A uniform is far more effective than a costume, and currently I am simply leaning toward protective bodyarmor covered simply by a long black coat, it's covert and should help me pass by unnoticed.

Advice from everyone here will be as gold dust to a RLSH newbie like me Smile

edit: can anyone tell me the name of RLSH members based in England? would be nice to know.

Shal keep an eye out for those two names, thank you.

The amount of RLSH in America is phenominal, hopefully If i ever visit the States I will see some people out and about.

Until then guess I am wondering round Stoke / Manchester, keeping my head down and eyes open Smile

Ronin.

Meeting up in England sounds like exactly the kind of thing myself and The Sentries are looking for!

And if you don't know what the Sentries are, have a look at my introductory post Very Happy

But yeah. Meeting up with you would definetely be interesting, it even sounds like we have a member with similar interests and style to you... I mean, he also settled on Ronin for a name! But yeah... that may have to change now Laughing

Another English hero... oh yeahhh!
