It really is a compulsion just like heterosexuality or homosexuality. Pedophiles don't decide to be attracted to kids, they are just wired that way, but they can choose not to offend. They know it's wrong, but do it anyhow.

oh... now I get what you mean. that was backwards, I meant the persons in "power" allowing offenders to live in areas such as these. sorry to cause confusion

ie; offenders being listed on sites near high risk areas for them to repeat said offense. after all...... they register and are LISTED???

Ah, yeah it is pathetic how they can get so close to the kids even after they're registered. Unfortunately, schools are everywhere, and we cannot force offenders to move to rural communities with no neighbors. If parole officers were able to make more surprise visits, it would help, but the budget isn't there. When the offenders feel they are no longer being watched, they feel safe enough to offend again.

I ran across a camp of about seven or so homeless people under an overpass during last night's patrol and thought it would be nice to give them sandwiches. But by the time I got back with the food they were all gone. Chased off by the cops I'm assuming? Why is vagrancy such a crime?

We have People hanging around outside the Northmart store all day while its open some of them are homeless others cannot get jobs and there are some who just refuse to even try to get a job so they just hang around all day and panhandle money and smokes what really disgusts me is that there are 7000 thousand people in town but the homeless shelter has 16 beds for men the YWCA just opened with another 12 beds and the 12 beds for the battered womens shelter which also houses Homeless women but there is no place for families to go at night but durring the day they all go to the Food Court at the North mart and sit down all day but its not fair when a paying customer comes in with their lunch and cant sit down because the other people are just loitering However I cannot see what is wrong with the Idea of gathering together for a quiet time just to avoid the gangs and other kinds of trouble They are human beings too I wish that the governments would do more for theese people instead of trying to show off a city by sweeping them under the rug and pretending that they don't exist

So this is a bit odd... I was patrolling downtown last night and I saw a guy in a black-and-grey spandex mask, a green sweatshirt with some sort of symbol on it (which looked like it may have been covering some sort of protective vest) and combat boots. I asked him what he was doing, but he sprinted off. Hopefully not some sort of kick-ass inspired vigilante...

EDIT: The reason I'm concerned about this guy is the way he dashed off- why on earth would he do that if he wasn't up to something? Actually, why would he do that at all?

well you also have to figure alot of people get into this almost as if its performance art. if he was trying to stay in a character or something you may have just put him in a situation he didnt expect (i mean who expects to run into ANOTHER RLSH at random?) and he didnt know how to handle it so he ran.

it also could have just been he was shy. i mean everyone is nervous when on patrol, if this was his first or something he may have just been plain scared.

interesting situation.... seriously. I, too have to wonder what this other individual was up to, or who he may have been associated with. just speculating aloud, mind you. in this "business" it's always good to keep an open mind.

I have to wonder if, I too, will run into another aside from 8 and myself around here. even online, to run into another local would be nifty geek

Sparrow, were you in costume/uniform at the time of this encounter? My first thought is that it may be embarassment, because he couldn't have honestly expected to go unnoticed. Did the mask look homemade or store bought? What possible targets for theft were around? It doesn't sound like a potential mugger to me, but maybe a sneak-thief or burglar, if it was anything at all sinister. Most likely another "kick ass"-er.

It was probably a nervous first-time RLSH. If you weren't in costume too, he probably got scared.

Jeez, my neighborhood is a Lite-Brite of sexual predators. You guys ever see that Dane Cook routine about sites like that?

That bit starts around 4:30 in the vid:

Well Iqaluit seems to be a dumping ground for Nunavuts unwanted homeless people and Dangerous Offenders

Every time a Dangerous offender is dropped off here in town he has to move into the Homeless shelter that means that a homeless person is kicked out onto the streetand maybe forced to move in with family most of the houses here are only one or two bedroom and those who come here may see five or six families living in one of those houses sleeping and eating in shifts

I should have mentioned that sometimes a Dangerous Offender is sometimes kicked out of the shelter to make room for another person and if the person may be a registered sex offender or Pedo how is the family supposed to put up with him moving in with them
