Awsome. I love this woman, she is a great inspiration for young women, let alone all others.

being a woman isn't easy.

Fine, being a man isn't easy either
but rape tends to be a bit skewed to one side

More than "saving" women, she presents a different set of ideas
is a wonderful and fascinating way.

She inspired me to try a LOT harder on a lot of different subjects
even though she never "saved" me

For some, Terrifica inspired them. And in the end, inspiring others is what the RLSH should try for the most. We, ourselves as individuals, can only do so much, but by inspiring others we expand the influence of our actions and our mission.

Getting others to do for themselves is a tremendous thing. That way more gets done and we don't have to try and do everything ourselves.

Being a man isn't easy in a culture that is largely paranoid that the majority of our sex consists of rapists and pedophiles...Or worse yet, a combination of the two in one individual. I was walking home from a get-together one evening; listening to some music while enroute. Some young women were leaving work; I noticed out of the corner of my eye and as soon as they saw me, they charged back inside and locked the doors tight.

We leave in a suburban area where crime, while it happens, isn't prevalent. I cannot remember the last time I read about a rape or other violent crime here.

The issue is that Terrifica's existence is predicated on the idea that men are inherently rotten and while it's wonderful to champion the cause of equality and self-empowerment, does it need to be done in such a way that makes men out to be monsters? Okay, so we're sorry about being forgetful and for not always remembering the anniversary, but that doesn't mean we're all a bunch of psychotic sex-pots. Most of us honestly want something more.

Terrifica is the embodiment of paranoia; the embodiment of everything wrong with the extreme side of equal rights/empowerment. I'm sorry that a man hurt her back in the day, but is that any reason for wanting to hurt others? I'm certain that some of these young ladies are just as guilty as the men are of seeking out Mr. Right Now.

Men are wonderful snuggly creatures at times
but are, inheirently, beasty.

Men commit 99% of the violent crimes.
Sad but true.

I would never seek to copy Terrifica or take up her cause.

She inspired me to do other things.

A neighborhood that has enough resources where people can get a door to lock themselves behind is a wealthy place
even if their people err to the side of caution so much that they make fools of themselves.

In My Humble Opinion, sex should not need alcohol,
people with hungry bodies should not be judged harshly but
given decent options, and men should be given better outlets for natural ferociousness.

A HEAVY BAG IN EVERY HOME, some Privacy and a decent Internet connection
is a pretty good set of items to start with for women to roam with slightly more safety

Makes sense. Yes, men are beastly, but we're not all bad.

Yet paranoia does grip our society, making any guy a target.

We can't help a kid in trouble because, as a man, we might be pegged as a child abductor or worse.

We can't defend ourselves when a woman verbally or physically abuses us because then we'd be accused of abuse ourselves.

And have you seen a commercials? In commercials with couples, a majority of them have the man typecasted as the clueless, dumb foil to the plucky and smarter woman. It's never the other way around. There isn't even equality!

That beastliness has profiled us guys to the point where it's becoming a big annoyance. Where's the love? Where's the equality? Where's the trust? Dead in this world.

It gets to the point where a guy is afraid to do the right thing.

TRULY MAKING ANYONE SUSPECT AND, STILL, THAT IS WORTH IT.

SIMPLY STATED, NO TOUCHING, WATCH UNTIL PARENTS SHOW UP AND DON'T LET ANYONE ELSE TOUCH.
APPLY WATER IF NECESSARY CALL 911 IF APPLICABLE,

We can't defend ourselves when a woman verbally or physically abuses us because then we'd be accused of abuse ourselves.
YOU CAN FILM HER AS PROOF.
MANY WOMEN USE MALE-RESTRAINT AS PERMIISION FOR UNNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR

And have you seen a commercials? In commercials with couples, a majority of them have the man typecasted as the clueless, dumb foil to the plucky and smarter woman. It's never the other way around. There isn't even equality!

ADS ARE SELLING THINGS AND MUST NOT BE MISCONTRUDED WITH ACTUAL TRUTH

MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY WOMEN ( INCLUDING ME) LOVE HAVING A LOVING BEAST IN THE HOME!!!!!!!!!!!

It gets to the point where a guy is afraid to do the right thing.

Okay, I didn't want to start a gigantic caps-lock festival on the iniquity inherent in advertising...Target audiences desire a dumb man-creature and an intelligent, yet sexy woman.

Show me one man who doesn't desire a naughty librarian and I'll show you a surprised supervillain.

Regardless, men aren't inherently ferocious beasts; certainly not the monsters that Lifetime and Oxygen plays them out to be via film and television shows. I'm all for empowerment for the weak, but not at the expense of others...When typically those others aren't part of the majority responsible for the actions of a few.

While, yes, 99% of rape offenders are male, that doesn't mean 99% of the male population is guilty for the crimes. I'll agree that more needs to be done to offer rape prevention in terms of punishment, training for defense for women, etc.; the solution is not to entertain a culture of paranoia. Paranoia doesn't keep you safe, it keeps you jailed in a cell created out of fear.

While I adore fear, paranoia is the ugly cousin that makes people into husks of their former selves.

Well, based on the responses the article was obviously thought provoking, to say the least.

The core ethical problem is about when it's right to intervene in people's lives and when you're being an intrusive nuisance. People have to decide that according to their own consciences.

What bugs me about that is that according to my conscience it's wrong for me to try and interfere in your freely made adult choices (even if they include alcohol)... I've heard reports that make it seem like this is what Terrifica does and I've heard reports that make it seem like it isn't what she does...

So anyway, good coverage of something of historical interest to the RLSH community.

I suspect it was intended to differentiate responses from earlier comments. One of these days, despite it being verboten in modern society, I'm gonna have to start a club of blood siblings who agree not to ever mean or take offense to one another...
