I was just wondering, does anyone carry a bola (one of those things with 3 balls on ropes that you throw to trip people)? It might come in handy some day, and you can make them yourself for very cheap. The only problem is getting it out quick enough to use it... Any thoughts?

Yeah, Geist just hangs them off his belt. I suppose he could get them out quickly. Who knows, might get to see them in action tomorrow night.

Geist's look to be just tennis balls on the ends of ropes. They're not hard to make.

Actually his are made of hard plastic or rubber and the rope is a pretty flexible yet strong rope. They appear to go through the balls and have knots at the end to hold the balls on. They are pretty heavy.


But yeah, you can basically take two pieces of equal length rope, tie them in the middle so they make an X shape. Then you find four balls that are sufficiently weighted, preferably all identical in size and weight. Drill holes in them and run each rope end through a ball and tie a knot at the end. To throw, grab the ropes where they meet in the middle, swing it around and throw at your opponent. Usually at the legs to trip them up, although I seem to remember in an old James Bond movie, I think Q had shown some explosive Bola that they threw around a mannequins neck and when they wrapped around and hit each other they blew its head off.

Hey RazorHawk, you wouldn't happen to know what kind of balls they are would you? I had a similar idea to Sparrow's, I was thinking of using tennis balls but filling them with something heavy first, like sand or something.

I recommend the explosive variety, as mentioned in RazorHawk's above post. One can never be too careful when dealing with criminals.*






*Obviously the White Skull endorses no such course of action. ...but explosive bolas are pretty kickass.

Oh man, croquet balls! That is a really good idea, they would make a great bola! Any reason for the piano wire instead of rope? I would personally rather have something substantial to grab.
