This happened out of uniform. Sunny, and cool. As I was waiting for my light to change at the intersection, I noticed over in the ditch, a chocolate lab limping. So, my light changes, I pull over on the shoulder. Walk carefully up to him, and see that he's hurt bad, ended up getting blood on my hands and coat. Besides the blood, I could tell his breathing was labored, he'd been hit, and hit hard. He had a collar, so I looked with for a tag with a number to call. Called, and informed the guy of my name, where I was at, and the situation with his dog. He told me he would be on his way. I told him I would stay there with his dog, till he got there. So, probably about 7 minutes go by, and he gets there, I pick him up, and put the dog in his car, which by the way, the dogs name is Rudy. The guy continually tries to offer me money, to which I refuse. Told him, I have a dog myself, and I'd hate it if he got hit and no one called to let me know. He said he was gonna take him to the vet. I hope he's alright, the fact, he's still breathing is a good sign I hope. So, truthfully, I don't know where to gauge this. I would like to say it was a success, but if Rudy doesn't make it, I think it will be a failure.
Got the blood off myself, and the clothes in the wash, and now I need to find a good dry cleaner, as the coat is wool and dry clean only. Hopefully, my next log will be more uplifting, with better news.

Not at all. Even if Rudy doesn't make it.. it changes nothing about what you did, or why you did it. And it doesn't change the fact that Rudy is now home with those he loves and who love him. You saved a family member and gave him back to his family. Never do anything worrying about the eventual end, because in the end all we all are is dust in the wind. Do it because it's the right thing to do. Be true to the beliefs and ideals that we have all been taught to believe and share with our children. Only then can we affect real change.
Today a family is grateful that a stranger stopped and did something selfless. They are grateful to have Rudy back.
You did good. I'm not the only one proud of you.
This earns the Silver Seal of Approval. |

| Patriot,
If Rudy doesn't make it, it will be all your fault. You should have been there sooner. You call yourself a real life superhero. You should be able to save everyone who needs saving, and find out who hit the dog.
(No. I'm just posting that in representation of the heroic conscience, and the fact that while what we do is good, we can never do enough, it's okay to be proud of what you do, but it's not good to ever be satisfied. Always aim to do more. For the record I think you did a good job at taking the initiative to do the right thing) |

So, I finally have gotten myself a laptop. Don't get me wrong, I liked my desktop, built it myself but I've been wanting a laptop for so long. So, now I got one, it's a Gateway, and its freakin sweet. I even got it in blue.
And in other news, been looking on ebay and other sites for items to update my gear. Checking out a couple places in town as well. I'm hoping some of what I've ordered will be in before I leave for Florida. |

| Why post the hour/minute you posted when the post itself already shows that?
Anyway, have fun in Florida. |

Anuk and myself met up with Gunslinger. No patrol or anything, just more or less a brainstorming session. Went fairly well, other than we attracted attention from the Mall Security for some reason(Mind you, we were plan clothes). Although, I like to think that that female guard walked by several times cause she was checking me out.
But back on topic, after getting all the "HI, how ya doin's" out of the way. We hashed out a lot of awesome ideas, and now even have a team, called 'The Guardians.' Which I hope will have several more members soon. Those who I have contacted, you know who you are, I look forward to hearing back from you. And if your in the area and interested in meeting up, give me a shout. It'll be awesome once it's fully up and running.
In other news;
There's a few of you who knew about due to the car accidents, injuries and some major stress, I had gone from 250 to weighing close to 400lbs. And I'm happy to report, that after allowing myself to heal, instead of rush things, and having gotten a lot of the stress gone, my health, weight and everything is doing better. For those who met and saw me at the panel, I've gotten smaller since then. I feel like I'm getting to be in better shape than when I first started this crazy life. Haven't even thought about it till like the other day, I've been doing this going on almost 10 years. |
