| do some research and find out what is legal in your area. but the best idea is to not get into a situation where you need a weapon. |

| Agreed, The best case scenario is to train your body and let it become the weapon. |

| Yes but you don't think if you have a stick you are more in security? |

| I have no idea what's legal in France. In general when equiping myself I have looked at what I need to get by and then considered "okay, what do I have that could be used as a weapon if it came to that?"
I think it's better in general to not carry items that are specifically intended for use only as weapons, although sometimes that's a legal thing to do.
If you do carry a weapon, make sure you research your local laws about it. |

| I carry a stick because I use it to balance. Overall I think using it as a baton would be only a small improvement, if any, over using my "armored" fist.
Also if you carry an obvious weapon you're kind of broadcasting to the world "hey, I wanna fight." |

| So long as batons are legal to carry in France... in California they aren't, but like I said, mine is an extendable "balancing pole" in practice and what it was designed for was to be a camera monopod.
As sketchy as that sounds I had a friendly conversation with a cop here last weekend while on patrol and he even took a few swings with it and laughed. He also laughed about my "riot gear."
Of course I didn't say to him "I'm out here superhero-ing. So you can take the day off while I beat the $#@% out of some criminals tonight."
I said "Yeah, this stuff is to keep me from breaking my neck while powerbocking." (which it is)
That's why I hesitate to sew a patch on my shoulder that reads "REAL LIFE SUPERHERO," however cool looking the patch might be. |

| For the costume, that really depends on what you intend on doing, in my opinion. |

| Hello Lotusman
I may be wrong but... the way you type and the things you type suggest to me that you are either a minor or that you are a secret RLSH testing other RLSH to see how they treat a newbie. (it has been done before)
If you are a minor, then it is usually suggested here that you should not be doing crime fighting until you have gained enough training and that you have reached the age of 18.
If however, you are over the age of 18 and you are not a RLSH doing a secret test, then it is suggested that you learn some useful knowledge and wisdom from the other RLSH here. |

| First of All Lotusman You need to realise that what you are proposing is very dangerous in addition to getting hurt or even killed by looking for trouble You also pose the risk of being made to look bad or worse You are either a vigilante or the cops may think you are on of the criminals the are trying to catch too If I were you I would offer to help the police on a case involving missing kids or pets Maybe vollunteer and a scocial event like I have been doing for the past 2 weeks or a charity event like a fundraiser to help the soup kitchen If the police ask for public assistance then you can offer to help them Dont try to put yourself into unnessecary danger If someone is being muged call the police and leave an anonymous tip then step in get the other person to safety then get the hell out of there |
