| Unless you use pepper balls instead of paint balls. |

| true, but still it will only piss him off and if the cops of someone is not there to stop him, after hes done with the pain, he can just continue.
the only way a paintball gun would help things is if you use it to stun someone while you get away or allow someone else to get away. there has to be a 2nd step to the process. |

| Oh, if you cranka paintball gun to run hot (ie. fire faster/harder), you can cause quite a bit of pain and even damage with one, even from a low-rise rooftop: certainly enough that most perps will be unable to continue what they're doing. hell, you can probably even pin them down until cops get there...
Unless they're wearing leather, or any puffy jackets...
And you can't aim for the head because if you shoot them in the face, now you're talking about intentionally, permanently blinding attacks, which are illegal even for the police to use in every North American jurisdiction (actually, I think they're against the Geneva Conventions, as well)
I think I'll stick to corps-a-corps from street level. |

| Depending on where you hit him, you could mark him for later so you can report him/her to the police. If you can create custom paintballs, you could fill them with a special paint. You could also buy pepperballs for the gun. There are a few possibilities you could use a paintball gun for. |

| You could use a UV reactive type dye, that way the individual doesn't know they're marked...unless they go to a rave. |

| Oh, I'm not saying that it'd be impossible to use for what we do... it just sucks as a legal, safe, primary deterrent/apprehension weapon (sorry, hurricane).
Not a powerful enough deterrent, while still managing to be dangerous enough to potentially get you arrested for excessive force...
Also, if I'm a cop and I arrive at a scene with one guy cowering in a corner and a dude dressed like a demon on a rooftop with what appears to be a firearm, I'd open up on the guy with the gun...
Remember, to a civvie, a paintball gun sounds a LOT like "shots fired"...
I see WAY too many problems with employing one of these puppies in the field. |

| I'm really not trying to wreck your dream here, dude.. I just want to make sure you're safe and effective out there. Security's what I do for a living and I've dedicated my academic life and spare time to martial arts and military technological history. |

| 2 more Canadians Welcome to the forums and jsut so you know its alot safer to go without the guns as Pladin was saying If a cop sees someone huddled and another person with anything that looks like a wepon Who do you think they would shoot first? I haqvent heard about the girl who was killed though but it doesnt surprise me either that something like that would happen. |

| Oh- also, the beautiful thing re: Canadian law- if you can be proven to be carrying any item with the intent of using it as an offensive weapon against anothre human, then you are commiting an offense. If you make use of said offensive weapon against another human, you have just commited assault with a weapon. This is why I don't carry a sword, knife or any martial arts weapons on my person when patrolling. It is also why pepper spray in Canada is sold as "dog spray".
I am aware that my armour has the potential to be used offensively, but that is not its intention nor its primary function. It HAS to be hard in places to protect me, and I'm sure that there are circumstances under which i will be using it will at some point necessitate my employing my armoured body to strike with, but that is an improvised action in a worst-case scenario...
A paintball gun is by nature offensive and that means it is a weapon the second you aim it outside of a paintball range, by Canadian law. |

| Those gels and other non-Newtonian solids only work when they have time to react to the impact. Any projectile traveling faster than the speed of sound within that particular semi-solid will no be affected much by the solidifying ability of the substance.
Bullets don't kill people, the kinetic energy they contain does. Like every form of energy in the known universe, only a reaction in pairs or 'gradients' will dissipate this. Any 'leftover' energy that wasn't reacted with by your armor stays with the bullet, OR actually goes THROUGH the armor WITHOUT the bullet.
Scientists have long debated the "irresistable force vs. immovable object" dilema for centuries, but the irrestable force is actually the clear winner, because like any sufficiently steep energy gradient, if there isn't a path, one will be MADE. The irrestable force doesn't need to move the immovable object, it can go around or even straight through it. |

| BloodStainHurricane, if you're still here and you were serious about this post, then I *strongly* recommend you rethink all of this from your name, to the armor, to the paintball gun, to everything. Just start over. Your plan is not a viable one and will either make you a laughing stock (low crime area) or get you killed (high crime area) or both.
And you have *no* idea how many snarky comments I'm holding back here. No idea at all.
