| Here is a kit that lets you build and modify a satellite that weighs like 2 lbs and is the size of a lunch box to do what you want, launch into orbit is part of the price tag, it will only orbit for a few month before returning to earth through burn-up so as not to add to the amount of junk in orbit.

| That's Interesting.
Way too steep for most people on here, and seeing as you only get a few months use out of it, Ehhhh.
Also, what functions can it be used for that would be useful to a RLSH? Satellites are all well and good, but 2 lbs is hardly anything to work with. |

| Check out the web-page, you can use it for a personal communications satellite, private e-mail, I guess you could install a really good camera to tranfer pics (spy satellite). It may not be much room, but it has possibilities.
Here is the link to the SPECs .pdf File

| A camera with that kind of zoom would increase the payload, which would have to increase the associated cost of the whole deal. Also Yahoo gives me private email for free.
But I do think it's really neat in a "gee whiz" kind of way.
(Ah... but if you could mount some lasers on it....) |

| It looks like they offer to double and even triple the payload you can have with it, but the costs would skyrocket, no pun intended. And lets not forget that it only has a few months before burns up, I would want something more permanent, like a low orbit. |

| I am going to be majoring in aerospace engineering, and I spend tons of time researching companies, rockets, etc, and let me tell you, Interorbital just throws out one bullshit scheme after another. They are the laughing stock of the aerospace community, trust me... They will never be able to launch anything for anyone. |
