| I met up with mr xtreme tonight and we patrolled much of downtown san diego tonight. we went through the gas lamp (the party side of town). came across a domestic disturbance where a man kept "insisting" the woman not leave because they were arguing. we monitored them from a few feet away and the guy got hostile and starting threatening us. but we stood our ground, and xtreme goaded him a little bit. but he backed off. hopefully she was alright after that. then we went to the seedier parts of town and eventually I led us through balboa park. he could see why I have a problem with that area at night, our array of flashlights came in very handy in the pitch black darkness. then we went back through the city and stopped at a 7-11 for some gatorade. outside I started a conversation with a coupla people hanging out, one such guy was really excited to meet us, and had read about mr. xtreme's various exploits. I mean, this guy was excited, he acted like he'd just ran into a big name celebrity. he's going to be looking us up on facebook and myspace. he'd even admitted to wanting to get into costume, but has a bad ankle and as he put it, procrastinated a lot. but admit it, we all do at some point or another. anyway, then we patrolled for a little while longer, there were some pictures to be taken sure enough. we discussed doing some group training with vigilante spider (good samaritan you up for that?) for various tactics and combat situations. anyway around 12:30 we called it a night.
biggest lesson learned tonight, was to invest in more underarmor, when I got home I learned anything that wasn't covered in underarmor was completely drenched in sweat. but this was wearing full gear, my hulking utility belt, backpack, flak jacket, balaclava, gas mask... the whole nine yards here. its awesome. |

| sounds like ya'll did a great job. it is always a good feeling to be known and appreciated by total strangers.the heat has been so bad i don't think anything will help unless you get an airconditioned suit. |

| Heat escapes mostly through your head... if it gets really hot maybe "bite the bullet" and go maskless or at least switch to a moisture wicking lightweight underarmour type balaclava. Also drinking water will help. That's why I patrol with a camelbak. |

| I did have a camelback on. and it was almost totally drained by the end of the night.I think if it wasn't for that I would have been way worse off. and this is just a regular balaclava, which I plan on upgrading to an under armor one with my next check. while my gas mask is very breathable, it retains a lot of heat on the inside. |

| I honeymooned in the Gaslamp district (Hard Rock!) and would sit on my hotel room balcony, thinking "Wow, I would love to live and patrol here."
You live there, or Mr. Extreme, or both? I would love to team-up. PM me! |

| try wetting your head before putting the hood up. worked for me. I also wet down the back of the mask as well to fight the heat.
you could try a half face rspirator and goggles instead of a full face design. the full face ones trap the heat.
good to hear your getting out there. Mr. Extreme is a good guy to patrol with. he has a very good head on his shoulders for this sort of thing. Vigilante Spider is also great to work with. Good Samaritan is also awesome even though he is new to this as well. you guys should make quite the team. |

| I certainly wish I had someone in the area I could patrol with.
Coming across... Things in dark alleys is a bit intimidating when alone. |

| What I wear to do landscaping is two layers, shin gaurds, face covering and a big hat.
I should take a pic!
It is ROAST-city this time of year.
I cannot without ice packs.
All around the waist is good for guys.
I put them all around my chest but guys, w/no 'bra' don't have the same options that I have.
I can go HARD for 2 hours in the afternoon with ice.
I flip the packs every twenty minutes and change packs once.
You'd have to carry the spares but a small back pack would do it without adding much weight |

| When I was setting up fireworks displays in the heat I would tape a small ice pack around my neck covering the carotid. It didn't last too long, but was a big help.

| @ idea man, yes they've worked together before. Shadow hare came down here with him to garner attention to this skateboard rapist. Not so much trying to catch him, but making the media and police aware of what was going on, cuz enough wasn't being done, and it made the police get off their duffs and really look for this guy. They are close personal friends outside of the RLSH world. He told me some fascinating details about shadow hares future as an RLSH, but I shan't reveal that here, it isn't my place. |

| This makes me think of something I saw a long time ago. I just tried to find it on YouTube, but no luck. It was a business suit that was air conditioned. It was from like the 40's I think and the guy had air bellows built into his shoes with hoses into the back of his suit so every step he took would pump air into his suit and cool him off. LOL
I would love to find a way to make a battery powered or solar powered type of thing that could be sewn into strategic locations of a suit that would keep the person cool. |

i am a tree man and carpenter i know the blistering heat very well.i actually did invent an airconditioned suit but it did not serve well in real work.the potasium nitrate will turn water cold and then with a small fan to blow threw the apparatus it works like an airconditioner.later i invented a unit which you put in one of those blue ice bottles and the fan blows it inside the chemical suit and hood i used.it really works but when its real hot you need to have many frozen . not always able to borrow the customers fridge. |

| Watch out tho, potassium nitrate is a strong oxidzer, when mixed with a fuel, it can explode fairly easily and in high concentrations in solution it can burn plants chemically. Just sayin. Cool patrol log by the way! |
