PostSubject: Skin Suit Help   Sat Aug 28, 2010 12:53 am

Ok, so my uniform is just going to be a black full body skin suit and a mask of some sort, maybe a balaclava. So my question is, how will I put my logo onto my uniform? Printing on spandex seems to be expensive and I only want to sew a patch on if I absolutely will not feel the threads against my skin. Any ideas? I don't plan on having body armor or anything like that, I want to be light and quick, but I might have some slash resistant stuff or very thin impact padding (maybe d3o) under the skin suit. Oh and my logo is going to be my current profile picture in case you were wondering.

patches on a skin suit aren't really an issue. I was lucky enough to come across a solid black spandex wetsuit, it only had one patch on it and I cut it off. (can't stand logos, I ain't no billboard). but it shouldn't even be noticeable, unless it takes up your whole chest or something.

also if you have some skill,I would suggest carving that out of rubber(you can get rubber blocks online or at an arts & crafts store) and glue that on with some powerful adhesive.also I might suggest patches sewn on with polycarbonate underneath. my mark II uniform was just a black skinsuit and mask. never really made it past test phase before I moved on to my mark III, my current uniform.

Sew the patch. You'll have no trouble what so even. I've been doing that forever.

You sure you want to go all black though? In every hospital I go to the Biohazzard symbol is either Red & Black or White & Red

Yeah I want it to be black with green highlights. I wasn't looking to have it look exactly like the actually medical symbol, just the shape.

Try using a heat press for the logo. They're dirt cheap compared to screens. You will need to provide the design in the exact size you want it. Try uniform stores first, as they often press stuff for police. Also, unless you designed this logo yourself, you may want to make sure there are no copyright issues with the design. Looks good, and will look amazing against a black suit.

Yeah I think that that would melt it... I guess I will make some sort of patch or maybe a rubber sheet and sew it on whenever I create my suit.

Ah yes. I missed the whole spandex part there. Yeah, that'd not be a great idea.

All my patches are sewn on, But to be safe you might want a uniform shop to do it. Or the people who make your tights.

as tough as they are I change my Skinzwear road suit out about ever three years. I'm on my third.

It's like a disposable lighter, they just take the patch off the worn out one, and make the new suit & put it on that one. I'm back in buisness.

you can airbrush anything you want onto it. Keeps you from having to sew on the suit. you could probably take it and your symbol to any airbrush artist and get it painted on for less than $20 inside a half hour. should be fairly easy to do
