| I have been working on the design for my uniform and have been looking at others uniforms to see how they are fitted together. I have noticed a prdominate use of the color black in uniform design. I was wondering if there is a practical reason for this or if it is instead a reflection of the personality type who would choose to be a RLSH.
There is little use of black in heros costumes in the comics save for the ocasional anti-hero such as Punisher or Spawn. For the most part the comic heroes use brightly colored costumes or use black sparingly as accent. I had planned on making uniform white for the most part untill I beagan researching it. Please feel free to spill your reasoning. |

| I'm with Mal, a white gimmick would be fantastic for anyone with the patience to keep it clean.
As for black, there are a few reasons why it's so popular. A big one used to justify all black gimmicks is the false belief that it makes you invisible in the shadows. While black is less conspicuous than most bright colors, it's already been said that dark blue is better for "hiding in the shadows" because it doesn't create the unnatural darkness black does. There's also the popular association between black and Ninjas, which is also false and mainly a product of pop-culture and ancient Japanese theatre. In short, black is popular because of the plethora of urban ninja wannabe noobs. There are some legitimate reasons for black. Most tac gear is available only in limited colors, mainly black. It's also easy to match. Quick, name a color. It goes well with black. |

| Yeah everything Sparrow said is right on the money Dark blues, Dark red and pastels are best for truly hiding at night
I agree a white or mostly white gimmick would look pretty cool as long as you can keep up the wash |

| My plan is to have an all black body suit with green accents. My idea for you would be to have 2 uniforms, one primarily black, and one primarily white. The black one would be for average patrols, and the white one for formal occasions. If you have the money at least. |

| I chose black because it just seems right and it's better to strike fear into your enemy's so that you might not need to get in a fight and things can stop where they are. Plus black is my favorite color besides blue and I never wear blue clothing expect for jeans. |

| Ninjas are the silent assassin but it is not so in modern times. Anime like Naruto and others are misleading people into thinking that Ninjas are good and here to protect you. Ninjas are normal bad but I for one will be one of the good ones. |

| Ninjas usually just work for the highest bidder. I suppose you could argue that they're "bad" in that they lack the Bushido enforced honor of the Samurai, but I would say that Ninja are more neutral than anything. Also Ninja typically wore disguises, common man's clothing, monk's robes- really anything besides an all-black gimmick that screams "hey look at me I'm suspicious and trying to hide! I might be a Ninja!" |

| My uniform is going to be mostly white with some gold and leather thrown in. I think all gold would look kinda tacky to tell you the truth...Another issue with white is that if you use white spandex, it can kinda become see through when it stretches...so for those who plan to use white spandex, make sure it's a looser fit lol. |

| I had a pair of white jeans once.....
....once.
It's just TOO hard to keep clean man.
As for all the black? No, it has no useful application what so ever. It's very perceptive of you to relate it to peoples personalities. I tend to think it's just becasue there's so much "Twilight" going around & nowdays Batman wears black in the movies.
It's been covered here before & scientifically proven that PASTELS actually blend in better at night than black does. The only reason the B-2 & F-117 are black is becasue some "In the closet" Air Force General said "Real men don't fly pastel planes! Paint them black!" and that's it.
There's even a picture on here I posted of a PINK Photo recon Spitfire from WWII on here that proves the point.
But white? yee gad.... Lots of hot water & bleach, wash it seperately. |

| I've also heard that darker greys can hide you quite well...I haven't tested that though. Anyone know about that? |

| Dark tones do tend to conceal better than black does. Maroon, forest green, navy blue, and the likes. Used properly they also make you look less suspicious if you do happen to get spotted. |

| grey a pastel?? Never heard that one, black, white, and grey are not colors, they are shades (thank you Mr. Duncan, art teacher extraordinaire!) And yes, dark "charcoal" grey is good for blending in at night... In nature during the day it can stand out a bit unless you are in rocky terrain, a slightly lighter shade of grey during the day is called for... |

| Pink Planes > Black Planes
Whats scarier for a tough-guy millitary man other than a giant flying penis that rains death? |
