Funnily enough, the rough redesign I have of you looks similar. Unfortunately I scrapped the design due to visibility issues, but I think you'll like the mask I have for you anyways. c:

Just a redesign drawing. He asked nicely and I have a little time.

Yeah, I can see that working out very well. Polycarbonate visor with a projection HUD on the inner left hand side for GPS, kevlar and steel shell, camera mounted in the center of the helmet just over the visor lip so UA doesn't have to worry about his shoulder mounted camera.

You forgot his trademark red hoodie Smile

pfttIdidn'tforget

I was hoping someone would say that. I was looking into some kind of made-from-scratch LED HUD projected from the inner rim of the respirator mask base (below green visor), and then I saw this-- LINK. It's free, too. Imagine if you could fiddle around with its projection, or a similar program. I wonder if it'll be detrimental to his eyes, though, with light being so close for a prolonged period of time.

I wanted to keep UA's gas mask with green sorta thing he has goin on, and also have max vision, despite covering the entire face.

I don't think it would be that detrimental since the light would be reflected off glass, therefore less intense. It's an awesome idea that I'd love to see.

Would I be able to stuff an ipod under my mask for that to work?

Possibly. At some great discomfort. And I'd loathe to suggest you buy one just to take it apart.

I realize that posting in such an old thread may be considered a faux pas, but I have a question regarding UHMWPE/Dyneema/Spectra... Specifically, regarding its ballistic properties.
As I understand it, UHMWPE fibers are used in the construction of bulletproof vests, but I know the material is also manufactured in the form of solid plates. Does Dyneema only provide protection against firearms as a fiber, or if one was to create armor from it that was composed of larger plates, would they offer the same protection as well?

flexibility and cushioning.

It helps keep those rear layers of steel from becoming an anvil for the lead to smash the fiberglass on which would reduce its ability to deform and slow the shot.
Let me just add my two cents on the PET foam thing. There's another foam material that's very similar, only much cheaper at the cost of being a bit less durable, but still cheaper even if you have to replace it from time to time.

It's the foam from regular military sleeping pads and those blue camping pads you can find at walmart. You can buy an entire roll for about 4-5 bucks usually.

I've just gotta say, this thread is of incredible interest to me, from my perspective it seems that Shade Gargoyle has very similar tastes to myself.

Both provide protection, but the way armor works isn't "either soft armor or hard armor." Better level armor is soft armor with hard plates strategically positioned over it.

The MOD LIVE version also comes in a sort-of guts only configuration which can be installed on other zeal optics compatable goggles.

That demo video soundtrack hurt my head!

But now I can skip the more clunky electronics hodge-podge I had planned to put in my new helmet and actually buy something compact, off the shelf. (does baby-butt wiggle dance)

On second thought, I'll wait for the extreme price drop to happen on these. Almost $500 for the unit, forget it...

You always run a risk with ebay, but that's where you can get stuff cheap --

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bullet-proof-vest-IIIa-3a-level-concealable-Body-armor-Brand-new-req48495-/150745895555?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item231927d283

The last one is the kind I use -- very comfortable, light, and easily concealed.
