Very soon I will be taking a college class as an introduction to criminal justice, and before I do so I was wondering if anybody knew of any sort of [hopefully free] online course or eBook in which I could learn some basics that would very much get me prepared for what I'll be taking in my class. It would be nice to be ahead of the game and go in with a confident start.

If you're looking for free, check out your local library and ask the librarian if there are any books on criminology and/or criminal justice.

If you don't mind paying about $20, then go to your nearest bookstore and check out "Criminology For Dummies" by Steven Briggs.

I have access to an entire library of legal textbooks and case studies. If you'd like, I can easily scan in any pertinent cases you have questions on.

Always glad to help out in any way I can!

Hey Unforgiven, I'll bite.

My wife raised a very valid concern that if I'm building and shipping out armor, weapons, etc. (which I have been) that I might need to take steps to keep this from biting us in the ass legally.

Is there some type of legal disclaimer that I can attach to items indicating that they are for "display only" and that the user assumes all responsibility if the items are worn, used, powered/activated, etc.? I'd like a precedent to cite on the label itself as well, where it was challenged and found to hold up.

Here you go. Just attach this to every piece you sell, on the item or in the box somewhere, and your ass will be good and covered.

"Legal Disclaimer of Liability: No bidders/buyers under the age of 18! This item is sold strictly for display and/or collecting purposes, and for no other use. The items we sell are not appropriate for children. Take appropriate precautions to prevent children from accessing the items. By bidding on or purchasing an item from us, the buyer agrees: 1) that the seller is in no way responsible for any damages resulting from the possession, use, or misuse of the item and 2) that it is legal for this item to be sold to the buyer & shipped to their address."

The items are being supplied without charge, so would "accepting this item" be an appropriate substitution for "bidding on or purchasing", as well as substituting "provider" for "seller"?

Yes, completely. The wording can be easily changed so long as the base format is stuck to.
