1. What do you do for a work out?

2. Do you go to a gym or stay at your house or what?

I'll go first.....

I have a gazelle elliptical runner, an exercise ball, and soon I'll be buying a new wavemaster punching bag. I tend to run for 30-60 minutes, 15-30 minutes of calisthenics, I do some balance exercises with the ball and some basic yoga for about 15-20 minutes, if I have weights available then I tend to do weight-lifting for 30-40 minutes, and I tend to work with my punching bag (or at least my kicking target paddles) for up to 60 minutes. I don't do everything in one day, unless I'm really stressed or angry, but I tend to work out for an hour or an hour and a half, typically 5 days a week. I'm trying to get back into shape.

I tend to work out at my house because gyms are expensive.

I work out at home and try not to disturb the neighbors.

I vary what I do with martial arts and cardio and old fashioned dynamic tension

For a week now, I've actually been doing those 'Shovelglove' excercises that Zen was talking about. I do about half an hour to an hour of that. That really helps out with forearms and grip strength, which is really cool for me, seeing as how I used to do Jiu-Jitsu, and groundfighting.
Other than that, I've just been doing the basics; push ups and sit ups.
My knee is only now starting to get better, so I'll be able to start running again pretty soon. But, I do go on walks. I try to make it 30-45 minutes. 2 times around my favourite park takes about that long.

I don't like people watching me work out unless they're working out too. It makes me feel a little nervous or something.

My friend used to do kickboxing with me at the local International Karate Association dojo - we'd always go early to watch the black belts (I'm such a hypocrite!)...so when we'd go back to his place we'd practice the black belt stuff. I think it's the only time I was okay with someone watching since we'd usually have my best friend over and ask his opinion (does this look cool? does it look like its being done right? etc etc).

I did try roller derby for a while, but I'm just a really terrible skater.

I'm secretive by nature, but right now I'm focusing on martial arts, cardio, weight training and proper diet.

Then what are you going to do should your physical skills be required to protect someone? If you've conditioned your mind to be secretive with your physical abilities, then you'll be shy when it's time to use them publicly.

I try to walk 20 minutes every day, and do 15 minutes of Shovelgloving. I also practice tai-chi, but since I'm self-taught, it's not exactly tai-chi, now is it?

Using my skills to protect someone is a different mind set. I'm talking about those people who go to gyms as more of a social thing. The guys that use the treadmills in back row, on a real low setting, because they get a "good view". The people who work at the gym who always ask you if you need any assistance, even if you obviously know what you are doing.

Let me put this another way....I don't like eating by myself in restaurants. Doesn't mean I can't eat in public places, doesn't mean I won't. It's just a weird little quirk of mine. Did I eat by myself when I was in England for two weeks? Every day.

Just for the record, when I worked security, my biggest problem was controlling myself so I would not get physical when fights broke out. Security guards, up in Alaska anyway, are not supposed to do much of anything except serve as eyes and ears. They can break up fights as long as they don't harm the fighters in any way. It's screwy.

silent Sorry if that sounds a bit too defensive. I've been defensive all day since I ruined a double batch of cookies.

At the moment I do a twenty minute run before breakfast.
Heavy cardio & weights for an hour on alternating days.
A hour of both yoga & pilates techniques.
An hour & a half to two hours on the bag to relieve any tension.
Another twenty minute run before turning in.
Apart from the running & the bag I take Saturdays & Sundays off.

As a rule, if time isn't a concern & I can walk to where I'm going that's what I'm going to do.
I change the techniques of my workout about every four weeks so it doesn't get too repetitive but this basic structure remains about the same.

For my workouts, I do super sets (which is 10 regular pushups, 10 sit ups, 10 wide pushups, 10 reverse situps, 10 tricep, or diamond pushups, and 10 knee to elbow pushups = 1 set, then you do up to 10 sets of that) as well as pull ups (all of the time). I don't do any "workouts" for my legs because I do running races, so my training for those (up to 20 miles in one run) keeps my legs in insane shape.
