Sounds like fun. I know we patrolled downtown Minneapolis last year during the gay pride parade and it was a blast. The town was packed and it was a nice night out. Talked to alot of interesting people and didn't feel to out of place. LOL

there's a nifty little comic shop in Castro too (hope they've re-staffed, asked a guy if they had manga last year and he said no. when I found it there, I was ready to beat the guy with the rack it was on.)

anyways, this event promises to be great. ML, if you saw some of the things I saw..... you'd start walking now. you just have to ignore the b-day suit guys with the **** rings. there is usually a concert on Sunday. and definitely intoxicated people who may or may not need some kind of assistance throughout. you never know. even if we just see some cool sights, the trip will be worth it. 8 is stoked like no other at the prospect of meeting some of our colleagues, as am I.

as to "making them see the evil".... their eyes are open down there. if they weren't..... you have to see it for yourself.

That's actually kinda the idea behind the parade, equality. straights and children march bearing banners. my kids, will of course be staying with relatives. I recently found out that some of my alter-egos family attend.... they're straight. as are many people that go there, 8 and myself included. my gf and I went the first year and had such fun we keep going back. 8 went last year, the stories he could tell you.

but seriously, if you're slightly uncomfortable it's okay. you'll hopefully be in good company. what's the worst thing that happens? you pose for pictures with a half nude "Queen"? wear a cup.

Good. Regardless of sexual orientation, ethnicity, religious beliefs, etc., everyone deserves to be equal.
It doesn't matter about a persons own comfort level. It is a constitutional right for all.

Shisa hit the truth right there. it's about personal freedom/expression, anybody that feels out of place should go at least once, if only to see people that are justified in feeling so. it's about what they enjoy doing and the struggle that a particular sub-culture endured to gain said freedom.

aside from that; this meet is kinda a dryrun, or pseudo-meet. the idea isto meet other "RLSH" in person and get acquainted. it's also a recon mission; I will ask those that go to take notes. after it's done, we can use our combined intel to make a better event next time.

my daughter volunteers at the event up here. she says's it's a blast. she does it because she dosent like seeing people put down for any reason.
