| I like both, but grew up on Marvel. I like some of DC's characters better (Capt.Marvel Capt. Atom etc.) but Marvel has better storylines and is grittier. |

| DC is great and all as it gave us Batman and Dark Horse is as well because it gave us Hellboy and I believe that Hellblazer is under its umbrella as well. However, Iron Man is my FAVORITE comic book character of all time, which means Marvel wins it hands down. Not to mention, Marvel's teams and pairings are infinitely cooler than the crap that DC publishes. Justice League and Teen Titans are just terrible attempts at fan service.
Image, on the other hand, only produces total crap. The ONLY contribution that Rob Liefield has EVER made to the comic book industry; EVER is Deadpool and even he has become way too popular for his own good...Which is really strange considering that he's an exact copy of Deathstroke. You should have thrown in IDW as they're a pretty decent independent publisher; the one I've been mulling over sending my stuff to for quite some time now. |

| So it is Vertigo! My bad.
DC just met a spot of redemption. I have no idea why I believed it to be Dark Horse. |

| @Adavis: Yeah....I work outta the home....IN THE NUDE! (Carl Reference)
@All: well when I was growing up DC was tackling things like Alien invasions & stuff like Superman VS Mohamed Ali, but marvel (paticularly Iron man) was dealing with corp. Takeovers & hostile third world villains & East & west Germany (the Living Laser sold out & was a treasonist) & Soviet hostility (Dynamo & Titanium man) etc.
Most of those stories were written by John Romitta Jr. too, the same guy who invented KICK ASS! which is why it pisses me off so badly when people don't support the whole Movie tie-in. I grew up with the guys work & he had a huge influence on my life.
So...yeah. Marvel |

I can understand your attachment, SuperHero, but you have to remember that although Jr. is a great artist and such, that book was co-written and co-designed by Mark Millar as well. Mark Millar, known now for his ultraviolent super-villain piece, "Wanted". I won't argue with Zeta's decision any more; if he and Dark Guardian tell me they can handle it, then I believe they can handle it. Do I still believe that its a risky endorsement? Of course I do. However, the greatest risks oftentimes give the greatest rewards, no? It all depends on the situation and the people involved. Those two are the most noble men I've met during my stay here...I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt in this situation, sit back, and see what occurs.
Still, you can't support a tie-in solely because you're a fan of someone; you need to look at the content and ask yourself if you're willing to accept any accountability if something should happen. If you can, then promote all you want. I know you're a good man, Supes. Now you just have to prove that to the rest of the world. |

| I had to go DC. They have Batman and thats all I need to know about that. Plus the All Start Squadron was always one of the best! 80's JLA International and of course Capt. Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew.
Sorry, everything else just pales by comparison. |

| I also realize now that Vertigo does "Preacher" which is IMHO the single best series of the '90s but I'll stick with my vote of Marvel because I think they put out the best stuff on a consistent basis as opposed to the once in a while of everyone else |

| @TT: I don't base it solely on that but am honored by it. And sorry I took you're thread off track without realizing it.
Back on track, one of the things DC has had going for it in my book is Capt.Marvel....but wouldn't that fall under other? FAWCET invented Cap, DC just bought them. Does that count???IDK.
Dark Horse Godzilla kicked serious ass. |

1 :No prob for the thread jack 2: You mean your thread what you said would have been you are thread (I'm not a grammar Nazi but for some reason that flub always gets me) 3: the Marvel family has been with DC so long now most people don't even know they weren't made by them (so kudos to you for that) so yeah it counts |

| Honestly, I will have to go with Marvel. And here is why. Yes, DC is the more senior publisher. I think though that Marvel did do a heck of a job staying somewhat independent of a major studio. DC has been known to flex with the times where as Marvel did a lot of ground breaking stuff. They even were able to recover greatly after the 90's era of marketing gimmick garbage, which I think is what sunk them hardcore. I think it took longer for DC to realize they need content before Marvel did. Marvel had always been about compelling stories (before the 90's and those blasted mutant stories). Personally, I go for whatever I think is a great story. Sometimes its DC and sometimes its Marvel. I am curretly digging Captain American and anything Zombie. On the flip side, I am buying Blackest Night. But when I buy paper backs, its usually something of DC because they tend to make more self contained stories than Marvel. Oh, and anything Lobo. I love that Bastich. In independents my favorite is Usagi Yojimbo. It was Invincible but I lost track. _________________ "I heard him yell nobody gets to eat my wastefullness!." -Master Legend about White Skull... sort of.

| I really feel like the Marvel Universe has better stories and deeper characters. I don't know if it is just me, but DC has always felt shallow to me. With the exception of DC's Vertigo line and Batman, I've never really been content with the writing of them or the depth of the storyline. Sure, Batman by far has the best cast of Supervillains around, but Marvel really uses comics to delve deep into places comics usually don't go.
Iron Man was my first passion from comics, followed closely by X-Men. Sure he's an asshole and a chauvinist, but the man built a freaking amazing suit. He's very rogue, and I think he has a lot more too him than people think, just like Captain America (honestly I was torn during Civil War). I still think that Tony's alcohol problem really speaks to what Marvel can do with a character.
I feel slightly bad, because I do think Vertigo gets out some really good stuff. Undeniably good stuff. But I just cannot forgive DC's whole "Zero Hour" thing. Parallax, really? Really sad writing there. But alas.
I harbor a liking of Dark Horse. They have a lot of good stuff, and let's face it, they publish the Serenity comics. And anything that helps to get my Firefly fill on has to be a good thing. |
